Wednesday afternoon, four Cardinal athletes signed letters of intent to participate at the collegiate level in their respective competitions.
Zachary Templet signed to play baseball at Nicholls State University in Thibodaux, La. Head baseball coach David Constant said of Templet, “He is a true gamer, a bulldog on the mound which is really what you want to have.” He said that Templet is ready to play through every game and that’s a quality taking him to the next level. Templet will join three other Cardinal Baseball alumni on the Colonel squad, something that Constant said, “I can’t wait to watch.”
Jacques Rathle signed to swim at Auburn University in Auburn, Al. Christina Lasserre, head swim coach, said Rathle is “the best swimmer E.D. White has ever seen,” and continued, “but not without putting in years and years of hard work.” Lasserre predicted that despite all the years of work up to this point, Rathle is very much still at the beginning of his swim career.
Jacqueline Robichaux signed to play soccer at Delta State University in Cleveland, Ms. Girls head soccer coach Lindsay Spinner said Robichaux joins only six other Cardinal Soccer alumnae to ever go on to play at the next level. Spinner also said Robichaux has been an integral part of the growth of the Cardinal soccer team over the last four years.
Heidi Chauvin signed to play softball at Bell Haven College in Jackson, Ms. Head softball coach, Juli Dardar, said Chauvin is the epitome of a team player. Dardar said her dedication made her stand out throughout her time here and that same dedication will make Chauvin stand out at the next level.
