EPISODE #3

President Tim Robichaux sits down with the E. D. White Catholic High School 2022 Hall of Fame Inductee, Priscilla Naquin Battaglia. They talk about her family life, her time at Mt. Carmel Academy, and her 37 year career teaching French at E. D. White.

E. D. White Catholic High School President, Tim Robichaux, proudly announces the 2022 Edward Douglas White Catholic High Hall of Fame Inductee, Priscilla Naquin Battaglia. Our school community will honor our distinguished colleague and friend during the annual Hall of Fame luncheon and ceremony on Sunday, December 4th.

Priscilla Naquin Battaglia, daughter of Odile Constant and P. J. Naquin, Jr., will be the 69th member inducted into the E. D. White Hall of Fame. Known to many E. D. White alumni as Madame, Priscilla taught French at E. D. White for a total of 37 years until her retirement in 2009. Her educational roots extend deep into the history of E. D. White. Priscilla is a 1964 graduate of Mt. Carmel Academy of Thibodaux, which later merged with Thibodaux College to become the present-day E. D. White Catholic High School.

Priscilla began her teaching career in Fall 1967 as a student teacher. She taught English at Thibodaux High School for a short time and then moved on to teach English and French at Bastrop High School in 1968.  Priscilla’s 37-year tenure at E. D. White began in 1970 until her retirement. Though she is commonly known for being the French teacher, Priscilla was involved in many different organizations through her years at E. D. White. She was the Foreign Language Department Chairperson, the Pep Squad Moderator, the Sophomore Class Moderator, the Health Club Moderator, the Band Booster Chairperson, and the seamstress for Color Guard. After retirement, Priscilla returned as a volunteer exam reader in our Academic Enhancement department.

Priscilla was active in her church by singing in the choir while in high school and college, serving on the cleaning committee for several years, and performing Eucharistic Chapel Adorations for over twenty years. She is also a former member of the Thibodaux Jaycee Jaynes and of the Bayou Junior Woman’s Club.

Priscilla is married to John Battaglia and has three daughters, Laurie, Debbie, and Lisa. Priscilla enjoys spending time with her seven grandchildren, Wyatt, Reed, Zack, Tristan, Laila, Dylan, and Ethan.
