Kathryn Stock Johnson '09 and Michael Parenton '04 Inducted into the E. D. White Cardinal Greats

The E. D. White Athletic Department is proud to announce the induction of Kathryn Stock Johnson, Class of 2009, and Michael Parenton, Class of 2004,  into the prestigious group of Cardinal Greats. This honor recognizes their remarkable athletic accomplishments during their tenure at E. D. White Catholic High School.

Kathryn Stock Johnson

A standout graduate of E. D. White, Kathryn received numerous athletic accolades during her high school career. As a five-year letterman in volleyball, she consistently earned all-district and all-regional recognition for four years. Kathryn’s excellence extended to the state level, where she received all-state honors for three consecutive years. Her senior year was nothing short of extraordinary, as she was named the Most Valuable Player in Louisiana Division III and played a pivotal role in securing the state championship. Kathryn’s achievements didn’t stop there; she also received the title of Gatorade Player of the Year in Louisiana, underlining her immense contributions to her team’s success.

But Kathryn’s prowess went beyond volleyball. She was a three-year letterman in basketball, earning all-district and all-region awards, and a two-year letterman in track. By the time she graduated, Kathryn had solidified her position as one of the most decorated athletes in E. D. White’s history.

Following her high school journey, Kathryn continued her volleyball career at Western Nebraska Community College in Scottsbluff, Nebraska, where she emerged as a team captain. During her sophomore year, she helped lead her team to a National Championship victory. She later returned to Thibodaux and completed her collegiate volleyball career at Nicholls State University.

Today, Kathryn is a dedicated mother to five children, Violet, Esther, Rose, Grayson, and Georgia, and loving wife to Jordan. She continues to share her volleyball knowledge with the next generation as a high school teacher and volleyball coach.

The E. D. White community is delighted to welcome Kathryn Stock Johnson into the Cardinal Greats. Her unwavering commitment to excellence and her outstanding athletic achievements make her a true inspiration for current and future Cardinals.

Kathryn Stock Johnson shared her gratitude and reflections on her time at E. D. White: “Ms. Mary Cavell was monumental in ensuring a successful career for me at EDW as she gave me the best start I could’ve been given—she allowed me to make the JV/Varsity team as an 8th grader! I remember thinking there was probably no way I could make it and then being blown away later when I read the roster after tryouts. I believe practicing up with the older players challenged and motivated me on a different level.

She also surprised me at the senior award ceremony with the Gatorade Player of the Year Award, which I had no idea was even an award, much less that she put my name in for it!

She always believed in me and provided a great atmosphere for our team, promoting faith, family, and killer instinct. She is still one of my closest friends today.”

Michael Parenton

A 2004 graduate of E. D. White Catholic High School, this year’s second inductee garnered numerous athletic and academic honors throughout his career here. A four-year letterman in football, he received all-district and all-region recognition for three consecutive years and all-state honors for two years. A team captain as a senior, he played in the LHSAA football all-star game and was named a WGNO scholar athlete, a WWL A+ athlete, and a composite academic all-state recipient. After high school, he received a full athletic scholarship to Tulane University where he played football for four years. He went on to become a member of the NFL’s New York Jets.

Additionally, he was a three-year letterman in track garnering all-district, all-region, and all-state honors for two years. He received all-state composite academic team recognition as well.

Currently serving the New Orleans Saints as Director of Pro Personnel, he accepted his award earlier this fall with his wife Jenna, daughter Scout, and family present.

Congratulations to Kathryn Stock Johnson and Michael Parenton on this well-deserved recognition. Their legacy at E. D. White continues to inspire and motivate the Cardinal community.
